THE DISTRICT OFFICE SUMMER HOURS ARE
MONDAY - THURSDAY 8:00 AM - 4:00 PM
Hello Highland students and community! I am thrilled to welcome you to this exciting way to integrate Math and Science with the projects and interactivity of Engineering and Technology. We have a lot of fun, hands-on learning ahead of us this year.
My Professional Background
I have been a scientist and educator for two decades and have spent the last five years in the classroom. I have experience working in several Colorado communities, from the eastern plains to Loveland and Fort Collins. I earned my first degree from CSU in 1996 in Biological Science. I have been active in my community, teaching a jump rope club, coaching soccer and volunteering with my local PTO where I discovered how much I love working with students. My favorite age group is middle school. I have my certificate in Advanced Natural Science education, and my Masters is in the same discipline. I definitely am a life-long learner! This summer, I was incredibly fortunate to spend some time with Temple Grandin, the well-known educator, researcher and autism activist. She told me no matter the subject or format, the most important thing is to teach students to think. I think a STEM program will be one of the most effective ways to achieve that goal.
More about me:
I have two sons, one in 4th grade and one in 12thgrade. In addition to science, I love to travel, anywhere is good for me as I enjoy learning about new cultures and traditions. In my spare time, I enjoy making costume clothing, snowboarding, hiking and spending time with my family and pets.
I'm so excited to be a part of the Highland team!
